Rovelli, originally from Mackay in North Queensland, has played 68 first grade games for the New Zealand Warriors over the past 2 years.
Rovelli seemed to have fallen out of favour with the Warriors during 2008 and, with the club recruiting Stacey Jones and Joel Moon for 2009, he potentially faced a season in reserve grade.
Cowboys General Manager Dean Lance is pleased to have secured Rovelli to the northern club, bringing home a local boy who has shown good glimpses of becoming a top line performer.
“Grant will give us the depth in the halves we’ve been looking for,” Lance said today.
“After playing in the last two finals series for the Warriors we have no doubt he will be an asset for us.
“We’re delighted to have a North Queensland junior returning home.”
Livewire Rovelli joins a new look Cowboys, already with a new coach and several new players in 2009.
