The Sydney Roosters appear to be finally getting things back on track, after they were successfully able to offload Willie Mason earlier this week – they have now confirmed Steggles as a $4million sponsor over the next 3 years.
But it comes with a catch.
Steggles only putting pen to paper after a behaviour clause was added to the contract, allowing the sponsor to withdraw should their be any negative media generated by players doing the wrong thing.
After a horror 2009, where not only did the Roosters cop the wooden spoon – they lost their long term sponsor in Samsung, they booted well-liked coach Brad Fittler and they had on-going off-field problems, finishing with Nate Myles’ hotel fiasco that was the worst of the worst.
Admittedly, things couldn’t get any worse – they had to be on the up.
And with Steggles backing the Chooks, veteran Brian Smith at the helm and some new faces at the club including the talented Todd Carney – the Roosters don’t look like being the easy-beats they were last year.
