Tiger cubs crush Cowboys 28-4

Tim Sheens unleashed several of the Tigers’ rookies to good effect tonight, with Wests beating the Cowboys 28-4 in Mackay in a match played in slushy conditions.

While the first points were posted by North Queensland on the stroke of halftime when Manase Manuokafoa went over, the Tigers ignited in the second stanza with 3 converted tries in the opening 9 minutes of the term.

Young custodian Jake Mullaney went over first to score for the Tigers, his touchdown made possible by good lead up work by new forward Junior Moors, who got his own 4 pointer 10 minutes later.

Former Penrith player Moors has promised much, and he looked to deliver for his new club tonight.

Another new face for the Tigers in 2010, Mark Flanagan, was also busy tonight. Flanagan getting a try off the back of some good work from young hooker Chris Corby.

Of the Tigers regular players, prop Bryce Gibbs was solid for his club and looked fit given how early it is in the year.

Wests Tigers 28 (M Flanagan 2, J Mullaney, J Moors, J Davis tries; Mullaney 4 goals) North Queensland 4 (M Manuokafoa).
