It might be a new season, new coach and new playing staff – but it was the same old story for the Roosters. Playing in New Zealand, the Warriors were led by new face Brett Seymour – as Steve Price, Mannering and Luck were all unavailable through injury.
Both sides unleashed a raft of youngsters, and the Roosters did show some fight early – hitting back with 2 tries to edge into the lead 8-4 before half time.
No.7 Brett Seymour was in play for just under 60 minutes looked after the goalkicking duties by successfully kicking 3 from 4.
NZ flanker Kevin Locke touched down for the first points of the match off a James Maloney bomb, but the Roosters remained in touch shortly after, eventually leading 8-4 after Brad Takairangi then Sonny Tuigamala went over for tries before half time.
The Warriors snuck in just before half time to lead 10-8.
The Kiwis edged further ahead after the hour mark when Alehana Mara setup a flying Patrick Ah Van to take it to 14-8.
In the final quarter, the NZ side put the finishing touches on – scoring twice to make it 26-8.
