Storm Leave Today for UK Mission

Melbourne Storm Club Challenge 2010The Melbourne Storm depart Australia today bound for England as they prepare for their World Club Challenge clash against Leeds Rhinos on Sunday, February 28 at Elland Road.Twenty-two of the Club’s squad have been named for the England tour (full list below), which will also feature a game against Super League team London Harlequins on Sunday, February 21 at The Stoop, Twickenham.The Storm are taking over a strong squad for the two games with 11 of the Club’s 2009 Grand Final winning team to take part, along with Todd Lowrie who featured in the NRL decider for Parramatta Eels.Anthony Quinn will continue his comeback to top level action after suffering a serious neck injury that ended his 2009 season before the halfway point, while six of the Storm’s 2009 premiership winning under-20’s team have been included in the touring party.However, due to injury, Cooper Cronk, Brett White, Sika Manu, Sione Kite and Chase Stanley won’t be travelling with the party, instead remaining in Melbourne to continue their rehabilitation in preparation for the 2010 NRL season.The Club’s All Stars contingent, Cam Smith, Billy Slater and Adam Blair will not travel with the rest of the squad tonight, they will wait until Thursday to make the trip to England. As a result these players are unavailable for selection for the game against London Harlequins, while Jeff Lima and Greg Inglis will have to prove their fitness levels if they are to take part.The team will train for the final time before their departure today from 12.30pm at Visy Park. Vision of this session will be permitted.The itinerary for the first week of the Storm’s stay in England has been outlined below, and a media release outlining the itinerary in the second week will be released while in England.
