Continuing their unbeaten start to the 2010 NRL season, the Dragons have again impressed with a strong showing against the North Queensland Cowboys – winning 33-8 at WIN Stadium.
At times having their critics for their limited attack, the St George Illawarra side tonight showed just what it could do with the ball in hand – with weapons Cooper, Morris and Nightingale all impressing.
The defence for the Dragons is at impregnable, they concede very few tries and it was the same again tonight – they strangled the life out of the Cowboys and the visiting side could only manage a touchdown with 10 minutes remaining in the game.
“I think the scoreline probably flattered us a little bit – the Cowboys were much better than that,” Dragons coach Wayne Bennett said.
“We got away there at the end.
“We’re not trying to play razzle dazzle, we weren’t trying to control the ball any more than normal either, it just happened.”
The Cowboys admitted to being frustrated by the home side’s stellar defensive stand, which extended North Queensland’s miserable run in first halves this season, which has now yielded just four points in 120 minutes.
“They don’t give you much,” Cowboys coach Neil Henry said.
