The St George Illawarra Dragons have proved the critics wrong with a thrilling win over the Roosters at the SCG.

The win moves the Dragons four points clear of the second placed Roosters with 4 games to go.  The win almost guarantees that the Dragons will win the Minor Premiership for the second year running.

In what was an incredibly brutal and physical assault, the Dragons seemed to have all the answers as they outmaneuvered and out-muscled the Roosters.

The win would have been extra special for Dragons coach Wayne Bennett as it was his 600th game as a first grade coach.

The thrilling game had some controversy however with Anthony Minichello’s try debatable as he appeared to bobble it before finally placing it down. It didn’t matter though as the Dragons did enough thanks to their stars to come away with the win.

The Dragons had the chance to take the lead after scoring their first try, but were denied on two occasions when Ben Creagh knocked the ball on, and Brett Morris was deemed to have stepped over the sideline when grounding the ball.

In a sour note for the Dragons, forward Matt Prior has gone off with an suspected shoulder injury.
The news was not much better for former Dragon now Rooster Kane Linnett as he too suffered a shoulder injury in the early stages.
