The man who was captured on CCTV footage in light of the betting scandal as been revealed as former Roosters Brad Murray.

Murray, a former Rooster, who has signed for the Eels, but is yet to play for the club was caught on CCTV placing a bet on the now notorious Rd 24 Bulldogs/Cowboys match at a hotel on Parramatta Road in Flemington in August.

Murray’s identity was revealed just hours after police believed that this is the man that can assist in their investigation to determine exactly what happened.

Murray is managed by player agent Sam Ayoub, and he is also the best friend of Ayoub’s son.

Ryan Tandy, who is also managed by Ayoub is the central figure at the heart of the scandal as he was the initial player implicated when the scandal first arose.

Detective Superintendent Arthur Katsogiannis told reporters a strike force had been formed to investigate the alleged betting scam.

“During the past few months these investigations have been ongoing and we have interviewed over 80 people and collated a large amount of information,” he said.

Astonishingly, 80 people including NRL players, agents and coaches have been interviewed as police try to get to the bottom of the case.
