He was formerly a coach at the Storm, before taking over the head coach position at ESL club Wigan Warriors, and guiding them to the ESL title.

In light of several potential coaching changes in the NRL in 2012, Maguire’s name has popped up as a candidate for several teams as a re-shuffle of coaches is expected in light of Wayne Bennett’s possible departure from the Dragons.

Maguire, who guided the Warriors to an ESL win his first season with the club and the Warriors first in 14 years, has not gone un-noticed by Australian coaches though he is still contracted to the Warriors for 2 years.

“I’m very happy here and I’m signed here so I’m staying,” said Maguire at Monday’s launch of the new season at Old Trafford.

“It’s very flattering. You’re always going to get speculation in coaching circles but I’m focused on what I’m doing here at Wigan.

“I don’t look too far ahead. I’m concentrating on what we’re doing this weekend.”
