Wests Tigers get their trial campaign off to a winning startT

In conditions that are normally unheard of for an NRL game, the Wests Tigers have prevailed 22-10 over the North Queeensland Cowboys in Townsville, in their first trial game of the season.

The Tigers, who were preliminary finalists last year, were forced to endure the pouring rain, as well as a second-half comeback from the Cowboys, as they won in front of 4000 people.

In what is a boost for the Tigers, they were unscathed from the game with no injuries being reported, apart from Rhys Curran suffering a loose tooth.

It was a young side fielded by Sheens in the trial, with promising five-eighth Sean Meaney given the chance to start, and new recruit Matt Utai also given the chance to play and impress coach Sheens.

The Tigers forward pack had 6 NYC players in it, and they all impressed the Tigers coaching staff throughout the game.
