Billy Slater in doubt for Rd 1

He is arguably, the game’s most electrifying fullback, and there is a very real chance that he may not be fit to start Round 1, with his shoulder injury not healing as quickly as first thought.

With Slater likely to miss the remaining Storm trial games, Storm coach Craig Bellamy said that the chances of Slater playing in their Round 1 clash against Manly, is unlikely.

In an injury sustained in Rd 21 of 2010, Slater powered through the injury and played in the Four Nations, before undergoing an arthroscope, that meant several ligaments had to be re-attached, thus why Slater has only partaken in limited training so far.

“It’s probably taking a little bit longer than we thought,” said Bellamy.

“He’s still a chance for round one but we certainly won’t take any chances on him.”
