There were grave concerns that Manly fullback Brett Stewart would not be able to cope with the NRL anymore in light of two knee surgeries, but it seems that he can, with the star fullback getting through the game unscathed.

Playing 20 minutes in Manly’s 14-12 win over the New Zealand Warriors, Stewart has declared that he is fit and raring to go for Rd 1.

Stewart, 25, “couldn’t be happier” with his cameo performance, and is keen to get as much playing time under his belt in the coming weeks.

The Warriors led the game for the entire match, before Manly young gun Vic Mauro scored with 8 minutes remaining, which proved to be the winning try.

Ben Matulino and Kevin Locke were the two standouts for the Warriors, as the team attempts to stake their claim for the premiership.

New Warriors recruit Krisnan Inu was the culprit in the Sea Eagles scoring the winning try, after some poor handling skills allowed Mauro to get the try, and win the game for Manly.
