The NRL has been rocked by another incident, this time – an un-named Gold Coast Titans player being involved in a domestic violence incident, with the player claiming to be the victim.
The incident took place at about 2am yesterday morning at Miami, when a disturbance took place between the player and the woman, with the police called to the incident.
It is believed that the man had been drinking in Broadbeach earlier on in the day.
A police spokesman said a 23-year-old woman was due to appear in Coolangatta Magistrates Court today in relation to a domestic violence incident involving a 27-year-old man.
Sources from the police state that the woman is believed to have attempted to enter the players residence, and woken him up as she tried to get in.
The footballer refused to let the woman in, and a scuffle ensued, with the player suffering minor injuries.
Michael Searle, the Titans CEO said that he had investigated the incident, and found that the player had done nothing wrong in this case.
“I’ve spoken to (the player), the young woman involved, her brother and the police and at this stage, the club won’t be taking any further action,” he said.
“This seems to be little more than a lovers’ tiff and everyone’s a little bit embarrassed. But (the player) is the aggrieved party here.”
