In a move that will shore up the Raiders forward stocks as one of the NRL’s premier packs, Raiders forward Joe Picker has re-signed with the club until the end of the 2013 season.

Despite interest from the Newcastle Knights, under new owner Nathan Tinkler, he had no interest in going anywhere else at this stage of his career.

“I’ve always wanted to stay here in Canberra and if I can go on and finish my career with the club it would be a great thing,” Picker said.

“We’ve started to build a strong team here in Canberra and everyone is keen to stay and have success as a team and although we’ve started slow this year were keen to improve in the weeks ahead.”

Don Furner, Raiders Chief Executive was also pleased with Picker re-signing, given that he is a local junior.

“Joe is a great player and more importantly he’s a Raiders junior, so were very happy to have him with us for two more seasons,” Furner said.

“We’re a development club and put a lot of time and effort into our local juniors, so when we can keep them in the region it’s a great positive for us.”
