Lowrie set to put his family before the next game

He is off contract with the Melbourne Storm, but lock Todd Lowrie looks like he might remain in Melbourne, despite the Storm heading to Brisbane today, with his wife pregnant with their first child.

The Storm team flew to Brisbane yesterday, but Lowrie remained in Melbourne, to be by his wife’s side, in the moment of joy for the couple, but he has booked a flight to Brisbane, in case he changes his mind.

“The club has left it totally up to me but at this stage, I can’t see myself going unless something happens with Sal between now and the flight in the morning,” Lowrie said yesterday.

“Given the circumstances the club’s in, a part of me would love to be up there to help the boys out but I don’t want to miss the baby coming either so it’s a tough situation to be in.”

Whilst other sides may choose to rest their players, it is unlikely that Bellamy will do so, as he has intentions to field the strongest side possible, meaning every player plays, unless they suffered an injury.

“We’ve taken a squad of 18 to Brisbane and that’s without the seven rep players and Todd,”a Storm spokesman said.

“We’ll have a squad of 26 up here tomorrow if they all arrive.”
