Folkes announced the Dragons assistant coach

With the departure of Wayne Bennett confirmed, the Dragons have moved swiftly to ensure that new rookie coach Steve Price has experience in his corner, with former Bulldogs coach Steve Folkes, signing on as an assistant for two seasons starting in 2012.

“Steve Folkes is an experienced coach and quality individual whose skills and experience will complement our programs in 2012 and beyond,’” said Dragons Chief Executive Peter Doust.

“Steve will make a significant contribution to our organisation and we look forward to him joining us in November”.

For Folkes, he is excited about the new adventure, and is grateful to the Tigers for the role that they offered him.

“The opportunity to provide coaching support to an emerging head coach like Steve Price appealed to me a great deal. I’m really looking forward to taking on this new challenge.

“I have greatly appreciated the opportunity the Tigers gave me. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at a great club.

“I have very much enjoyed working with great coaches Tim Sheens and Peter Gentle, their support staff and the players. I have learned a great deal”.
