The race for his signagure was heating up, with several clubs after him – but ultimately, it is family and loyalty that has won through, with young Cowboys second-rower deciding to stay in North Queensland.
With a new contract that will take him through to the end of 2015 out of the way, Peter Parr, the Cowboys Football Manager, said that the club was pleased that Taumalolo made the decision to play – potentially forming a devastating back-row partnership with Tariq Sims in years to come.
“We believe, like everyone in the NRL does, that Jason has a bright future in rugby league and we’re very happy that future will be with the Cowboys,†Parr said.
“Jason loves living in Townsville and being part of our club.
“He wants to be part of a successful team with the Cowboys and we think we have a better chance of doing that with forwards like him and Tariq in our line-up.
“Jason is still only a young man and has plenty of development left in his game.â€
