Anthony Watts

Some players find trouble, whereas trouble finds other players. Whichever mantra it is, Anthony Watts has again found himself in the headlines for the wrong reasons – with the former Rooster & Cowboy charged with assault, after attending his father’s funeral on the Gold Coast.

Watts, who was playing for the Tugun Seahawks on the Gold Coast, was also in negotiations for a new deal with the North Queensland Cowboys – but this latest charge now places an NRL return in jeopardy.

The charge saw Watts spend some time in the Tweed Watchhouse on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, before he was released on bail.

The former NRL player will face Tweed Court on August 13.
