Former QLD and Australian representative joins Cowboys board

Ben Ikin

You may remember him as a player, whether it was for the Bears, the Seagulls or for the Broncos, or even during his representative appearances for Queensland and Australia – but for Ben Ikin, the next step in life begins, after he was appointed as the sixth and final member to the board of the North Queensland Cowboys.

Club Chairman Laurence Lancini, said that the club is excited to have him on board, given his previous credentials in business.

“Ben has had an extensive playing career and has also gained commercial experience in rugby league with the Broncos and Titans, as well as in other industries,” Mr Lancini said.

“He’s also been heavily involved in the media and has a great understanding of where the game is placed, and where it needs to head in the future.

“I’m sure he is going to enjoy being part of the Cowboys, as we continue what is an exciting era for our club.”

It won’t be the first role at a club that Ikin has been in charge of, with the former QLD representative formerly the Gold Coast Titans General Manager of Marketing, as well as a being a member of the NRL Education and Welfare Committee.

For Ikin, he is excited by the new opportunity presented to him.

“I’m honoured to have the chance to join the Cowboys’ board,” Mr Ikin said.

“I’ve admired the way the Cowboys have developed both on and off the field, and hope I can help the club become even more successful.”
