Sometimes a move is the best thing for a player, and when it is to be closer to family, there is no better reason – and that is exactly what Mackay Cutters and North Queensland back-rower Dane Hogan did, signing a 2-year deal with the Easts Tigers.
Hogan, 23, who is a Bribie Island junior, said that family played a big part in his move South, and he is looking forward to playing for the club.
“Easts seems like a good club… I know a lot of people here, friends and family, so that was one of the main reasons in coming back to Brisbane,†he said.
“My old man still lives at Bribie as well, so it’s good not being too far away from him.â€
Hogan, who was at the Cowboys since 2008, before playing in 10 first-grade games in 2010, he sees the move as a ‘fresh start.’
“I probably wasn’t enjoying my footy as much as I’d like last year, so thought I’d come down here. I’m really looking forward to the change,” he said.
“We only moved last week, so still getting my house sorted and then pre-season isn’t too far away.â€
