Stefan Marsh

Both players were on loan at Widnes from Wigan for the majority of the season, but in a boost for Widnes, both Stefan Marsh and Joe Mellor agreed to permanent deals with the club, for the next 2 years.

Marsh, 22, is a centre who played 23 games for the Vikings upon their return to the Super League, whereas stand-off Joe Mellor, 21, had two loan stints with Widnes.

Dennis Betts, Widnes coach, is pleased to have secured two year deals for the duo.

“We were always hopeful we could retain Stefan. Despite having an option to remain at Wigan, he has really enjoyed his time at Widnes.

“He’s a strike centre and, while we’ve been really pleased with how he has performed so far, we realise there’s plenty more to come from him.

“Joe found his Super League opportunities limited at Wigan but, from day one, his attitude and application at Widnes have been outstanding.

“He is a committed person and a quality professional, who leaves no stone unturned in his preparation and takes nothing for granted on the field.”
