Speculation was rife that he was after a move away from the club, after being suspended by current club Castleford in June, for breaching club rules – but all speculation can be put to bed, as utility Rangi Chase confirms he will remain with the Castleford Tigers for the 2013 season.
Chase, who appeared to be headed out of the club just a few short few days ago, decided to stay – following lingering speculation linking him with a move back to his former NRL side, the St George Illawarra Dragons.
It was just last week that the Tigers confirmed Chase had undergone talks wi
th the Dragons, but with no deal struck between the two parties, Chase stayed – with the utility recently sent home from the Autumn International Series, after picking up a groin injury.
Tigers Chief Executive Steve Ferres was ecstatic to have retained Chase, despite all the lingering speculation.
“We are delighted that the situation has been resolved and we are looking forward to seeing him regain the form that led to him being crowned Man of Steel in 2011.
“Having spoken to Rangi, he is happy to be staying at the club and is meeting with the Castleford physio today to assess his groin injury, so he can be ready for the pre-season friendlies in January.”
