It will be a lesson learnt for the young Eels forward, after Jamil Hopoate, a forward for the Parramatta Eels Toyota Cup side had his licence suspended for 6 months, after admitting to a mid-range drink driving offence.

The 18-year old pleaded guilty to the offence, and was sentenced at Manly Local Court on Thursday.

The incident came about after po

lice stopped him in Narraweena, nearby his Waratah Parade home – with the young forward recording a blood alcohol level of 0.127, according to police facts.

Hopoate gave the police no trouble, admitting that he consumed 12 330mL bottles of Corona beers in Dee Why, over the space of 3 hours.

“Throughout the process, the accused was cooperative with police,” the statement said.

Along with his licence being suspended for 6 months, Hopoate was also fined $500.
