Roosters prop to join Penrith subject to NRL approval

Mose Masoe

The move may not please Roosters fans too much, given that he was a key figure in their NSW Cup grand final win – but prop Mose Masoe has been released effective immediately by the Roosters to join the Penrith Panthers, pending NRL approval.

Masoe, who is a Rooster junior, has a good number of years left in front of him – and for Roosters COO Brian Canavan, with options available elsewhere, they did what they felt was best for Masoe's career.

“Mose has a lot to offer the NRL and the club’s decision to grant him a release was based on what we consider in the best interest of his long-term playing future,” said Canavan.

“Mose has come through the Roosters junior grades and been a wonderful contributor to the club both on and off the field, and he leaves with our very best wishes for the future.”

For the Panthers, it further strengthens their forward pack, with the club eager to see what Masoe can do on the training paddock and the field.

“Mose will be a tremendous asset to our forward pack. We look forward to welcoming him into the squad once negotiations have been completed,” said Panthers GM of Football, Phil Moss.
