Castleford Tigers have strengthened their side once more, signing prop Keith Mason on a 1-year deal, who brings a wealth of experience from both the NRL and ESL with him.
Mason, who is branded as one of the toughest props in the game, won the 2009 Coaches Player of the Year for Huddersfield, and is fit and raring to go, playing in 19 games last year.
Ian Millward, the Castleford coach said that the plan was to bring in an experience forward like Mason, and the former Giant fits the bill.
“I was in search of an experienced forward who could offer a presence both in training and on the field and Keith fits that bill. Having previously coached him at St Helens, I know him to have one of the best work ethics in the game; he commands respect from his peers and will no doubt have a positive impact on the team,” said Mason.
“I am confident that Keith still has some of his best years ahead of him, which should also create some healthy competition between the forwards as we gear up for next season. He starts with immediate effect and will join the squad in training tomorrow (Thursday).”
