If you follow international rugby league closely, you may have heard of him – as the South Wales Scorpions strengthen their side for 2013, signing Irish international Sam Wellings, for the 2013 season.
Wellings, 23, who played in two games for the Scorpions at the end of the 2012 season, made his international debut for Ireland in their win over Scotland in the recent European Cup.
Wellings has represented Ireland at several levels, and it was some of his younger international accolades, that grabbed coach Dave Clark's attention.
“Sam comes to us with outstanding credentials,” Clark said.
“He was with the best university Rugby League side in the country for three years and he has already won a full international cap.
“He spent a lot of 2012 playing international Rugby League for Ireland at various levels, so is experienced at the big stage.
“He will have been coached well by Mark Aston and Carl de Chenu and I know he will be hoping to gain a place in Ireland's World Cup squad, so we're looking forward to some top quality performances from him in 2013.”
