Jarryd Hayne

Whilst he has said that he would not play against the Eels, the possibility of star fullback Jarryd Hayne heading to another code lingered on the minds of some Eels fans, but they can now rest easy – after both club and player confirmed that the NSW representative will be staying on at the club until the end of the 2015 NRL season.

Perhaps a short-term deal to keep his options open, Hayne was pleased to have re-signed with the club and thanked the members for their support via his Twitter page.

“Happy to announce I’ve re-signed with the Parramatta Eels and look forward to the future,” said Hayne on his Twitter page.

“To all Eels members, thank you for the support.”

The tweets poured in from his team-mates and CEO Ken Edwards, all of whom expressed delight at Jarryd’s decision.

“Jarryd is an outstanding young man and leader,” said Edwards via his Twitter page.

“Congrats to the people’s champ for re-signing with the Eels,” said Eels back-rower Matt Ryan on his Twitter page.

“Plenty of good times ahead with him leading.”

With Hayne’s future now sorted, Eels fans will be hoping that he can get back to his best consistently.
