Greg Eastwood

To continue the signing news for the day, the Canterbury Bulldogs have announced the re-signing of lock Greg Eastwood for a further three years, amid speculation that he may have been headed out.

It was back in 2005 when Eastwood made his debut for the Brisbane Broncos, with 67 of his career games coming for the Broncos – with the lock also enjoying a stint with the Leeds Rhinos in the Super League.

From Auckland, the Manurewa Marlins junior has also played in 18 games for the Kiwis, with the man himself excited to have his future sorted with the Bulldogs.

“It is always good to have your future sorted nice and early and I’m grateful and happy to be staying with this great Club,” Eastwood said.

“I’ve got many friends that I’ve made over the years and the current squad has a good amount of talent that I believe can do a lot over the next few years.

“It’s been a tough start to the year but we’re working hard and looking forward to a bright future.”

Someone who has been impressed with Eastwood this season despite the club’s poor start to the year, has been coach Des Hasler.

“Greg is a smart player and New Zealand International who is always working hard on his game,” he said.

“He is a major part of our forward pack both in attack and defence so it is good to know that he’ll be part of the Club for the next three years.”
