He has a famous surname, one that is synonymous with rugby league and that surname will continue to be involved in the NRL, after the Sydney Roosters confirmed that utility Daniel Mortimer has re-signed with the club until the end of the 2015 season.
For Mortimer, he is excited at the chance to stay on at the club and looks forward to what the future brings for him.
“I feel so comfortable here at the Roosters. I’m really enjoying being part of the team and have made some great friends here, on and off the footy field,†said Mortimer.
“The club’s been great to me, I know my role and I’m learning so much – and that’s a big part of the reason I really wanted to stay at the club. I’m excited that I’ll continue to represent the Roosters for a further two years,†he added.
Equally pleased to retain Mortimer was Roosters coach Trent Robinson, who sees Mortimer as a part of the club’s long-term plans moving forward.
“Daniel is a true clubman. He is a valued contributor to our club and a quality person on and away from the footy field. Apart from sharing the hooking role with Jake friend, Daniel gives us great depth in our halves, making him an invaluable member of our squad,” said Robinson.
“His best footy is still ahead of him and we are very pleased to have Morts on board for a further two years.
