Dane Gagai

His career may not have started in the best fashion when he was released by the Brisbane Broncos but since his move to the Newcastle Knights, Dane Gagai has been in career best form.

Hampered by a couple of injuries so far this year, the talented centre is slowly getting back to his best and has been rewarded for it, re-signing with the club for a further 2 years until the end of 2015.

Playing 18 games since joining the club mid-season, the club is excited to retain Gagai, a player they have been pleased with.

“We are extremely pleased to announce Dane has committed to our Club for a further two years,” CEO Matt Gidley said.

“Dane has been outstanding since arriving at our Club and this new contract is a reward for that form.

“Dane and Aku have struck a wonderful combination on our right edge and I am sure our Members and supporters are looking forward to this partnership developing further over the next few years.”

The man himself is excited to have extended his stay at the club, with his younger brother Jacob also at the club.

“I am happy in Newcastle, I am enjoying my football and I am grateful for the opportunity to play under Wayne (Bennett),” Gagai said.

“Wayne showed belief in me from the minute I arrived at the Club and now I have my younger brother here with me here as well.

“For everything he and the Knights have given me and my family, I want to repay them.

“That makes the decision to extend my contract an easy one.”
