Speculation linked him to the New Zealand Warriors but he will be in Townsville for at least another year, after signing a 1-year contract extension to remain with the North Queensland Cowboys.
Lui, who is highly rated as a play-maker, is looking to cement his spot in the Cowboys side at halfback but does face stiff competition from Ray Thompson and Michael Morgan.
With injury restricting him to just same day payday loans two games so far this season, Lui will be playing this week against his former side, the Wests Tigers.
“I’m sure we are going to see the best of Rob Lui over the remainder of this year and again next season,” Cowboys general manager – football Peter Parr said.
“He feels at home here in North Queensland and we expect he will become a key player in our squad.”
