Korbin Sims

A lot of speculation had him linked to a move to the North Queensland Cowboys to play alongside his brothers Tariq and Ashton, but in news that will have Newcastle Knights fans cheering, the youngest of the Sims brothers, Korbin, has re-signed for a further two years.

The deal will run until the end of the 2015 season, with Korbin joining the Knights in 2011 and playing two years in the Holden Cup before getting his first-grade chance back in Rd 3 this year.

“Korbin is a wonderful young talent and a player we obviously wanted to secure at the Knights,” CEO Matt Gidley said.

“It is pleasing, along with the likes of Tyrone (Roberts), Dane (Gagai) and Robbie (Rochow), we are continuing to retain our best young players long term.”

Sims is a future star of the game and was named at prop in last year’s NYC Team Buy Cialis of the Year, as he looks forward to his footy now that his future at the club is sorted.

“I am excited about staying at the Knights for at least the next two years,” Sims said.

“This Club and Wayne (Bennett) have given me my chance and I want to give back to the Club and repay them for their faith.

“With the mix of the younger players coming through and the older boys in the side, there is a good feel about what is to come at the Knights.”

Close to his brothers, they were aware of his decision, with Korbin stating that the two support him wholeheartedly.

“My brothers are happy for me, they support my decision and know this is the best decision for my career,” Sims added.

“Hopefully I can play some good football over the next few years and make my family proud.”
