Lagi Setu

The merry-go-round for Lagi Setu and the number of teams he plays for will continue, with the current Melbourne Storm forward to front up for his 4th club from 2014, after signing a 2-year deal with the Canberra Raiders.

The deal, which will run until the end of the 2015 season, is a fresh challenge for Setu, who has been in and out of the Storm side this season.

With 71 games played in his career to date, the move is one Setu will enjoy, as Raiders CEO Don Furner welcomes the addition of Setu, who is the replacement for the departing Joel Thompson, who will move to the St George Illawarra Dragons in 2014.

“Lagi is a fine young player and will be a perfect replacement for Joel Thompson,” Furner said.

“We where to buy electronic cigarettes actually tried to sign him four years ago, but he returned back to Brisbane and then headed off on his two year Mormon mission. We are very happy to have secured him the second time around.”

The Melbourne Storm have also confirmed Setu’s departure, with General Manager of Football Frank Ponissi confirming the departure of he and fellow Storm player Junior Sa’u, who will move to Salford.

“It was the club’s and both Junior and Lagi’s preference to remain with Melbourne Storm, however due to salary cap constraints and other circumstances we were unable to offer them a position on our playing roster for 2014,” Ponissi said.

“We know both players will continue to be focused on finishing 2013 strongly with the club and we wish them all the best for next year.”
