It is always a tough position to fill and a tough position to take over from someone else, but that is exactly the role that Grant Mayer has been assigned to do, with the Chief Operating Officer of the Wests Tigers given the top job, as the club officially announces that he is their new CEO.
With the appointment of Mayer as CEO approved by the board last night, the belief is that the now former COO performed well during his tenure in the role in what was a challenging period for the club.

“Our operations benefitted from his past experience immediately he was elevated following the departure of Stephen Humphreys. We were very fortunate to have Grant on board since last year, giving him time to become involved with issues affecting Wests Tigers before taking on this key role.
“Grant deserves congratulations from the Board and all involved with the Club as he continues to develop initiatives he has been developing over the past couple of months to put Wests Tigers on a stronger footing to strengthen its player profiles and sponsorship deals for improved results in the future.â€
The support for Mayer continued to pour in, with Wests Tigers Deputy Chairman and Balmain best electronic cigarette online Tigers Director Nick Di Girolamo also endorsing the move by the club.
“Grant is passionate about this Club and he has consistently shown strong leadership at all levels of our operations,†Di Girolamo said.
“He has been openly and strongly communicative with the Board. Grant has worked very well with the chairman and myself and I look forward to working him with the future.â€
Mayer is no stranger to big positions, having previously held General Manager positions at both the Tigers and AFL side, the GWS Giants, as well as an Events and Operations Manager at the Canterbury Bulldogs.
The new CEO also has experience as a CEO, having been the CEO of the Manly Sea Eagles for three years as well as a similar, brief stint for the Catalan Dragons. .
For Mayer, he sees it as an honour to be able to hold such a position at the Tigers.
“I am in a very fortunate position to have made a career out of something I love. I believe in the Wests Tigers and am confident that the Club is now moving in the right direction,’’ Mayer said.
“I am working overtime to ensure that we re-sign some of the game’s best young talent. I also want to ensure that Wests Tigers train and play out of the best facilities possible and that we continue to foster strong relationships with our corporate and membership base. These people are our lifeblood.
“There are some very exciting times ahead for Wests Tigers and I look forward to working with Chairman Mike Bailey, Deputy Chairman Nick Di Girolamo, and the Board to ensure we achieve the best possible results for this Club.â€
