Changing clubs for any player can be due to any number of reasons, mainly that they are after a new challenge and more first-grade action and for Hull KR prop Richard Beaumont, that is what he is after – signing a 2-year deal with St Helens from the 2014 season.

Beaumont, who is a prop forward, started out his career with Hull KR and worked his way through the ranks.

At 25, he is still maturing and making his mark in the Super League as a player, but St Helens Chairman Eamonn McManus says the club is excited to have him on board.

We’re delighted to secure Richard’s signing. He will be a welcome addition to our forward line that has not only gained more experience during Online Blackjack the course of 2013, but has been bolstered ahead of 2014,” said McManus.

“We’re sure that under the tutelage of Nathan Brown has his coaching staff Richard will do well for the club and we are looking forward to having him on board.”

With his size a valuable asset for any side, it is something that Saints coach Nathan Brown looks forward to utilising in 2014.

“Richard showed a lot of potential coming through the system at Hull KR and will be a real asset to us next season,” said Brown.

“He possesses a lot of size and will bring some real go forward to our pack. At 25 he is still developing too and we are looking forward to seeing that at Langtree Park.”
