Despite some inconsistent periods for his current side, the Salford City Reds as they rebuild, Ashley Gibson has enjoyed some decent form of his own, form that has seen the Castleford Tigers approach and sign him, on a 2-year deal.
The 26-year old can play at left or right centre and will don the Tigers jersey once the current season is over, a move that Gibson is excited about.
“I’m chuffed to sign for Castleford Tigers,” Gibson said.
“When my manager came to me saying that Cas were interested in me, I was over the moon.
“There were a couple of other offers but I wanted to be playing my rugby close to home, so it’s a great opportunity for me VolumePills in Castleford.
“I want to do the best that I can for the Club and try to finish as high as we can in the table.
“Castleford’s recent form has shown everybody what they can do, so I’m happy that I’m going to be a part of that.”
Someone who is familiar with Gibson having seen him coming through the ranks at Leeds, is current Castleford coach Daryl Powell.
“Ashley is a player that I have rated since I coached at Leeds when he was a young player coming through the system,” said Powell.
“He is a versatile and skilful player with a great attitude and his signing further strengthens the quality and depth in our squad for next season.”
