He might only be relatively new to the club having only played there for one season, but Adam Walker is fast becoming a player that all Hull KR fans can appreciate and admire, with the youngster signing a contract extension until the end of 2017.
It was last winter when the 22-year old joined the Rovers from Super League rivals, the Huddersfield Giants and in that time, he has excelled – so much so, that the club rewarded him with a contract extension.
Making 27 appearances for Hull KR and taking out the club’s Young Player of the Year Award, Walker is thrilled to have his future sorted.
“I couldn’t be happier,†he said.
“With me having two years left on my original dea,l I wasn’t even thinking about an extension really. My only focus has been to try and play well every week and keep improving.
“The club came to me about extending my contract and it was an easy decision for me to make, as I’m loving it at Hull KR. We had a good season in 2013 and have made some impressive signings for next season, so hopefully we can improve again.
“On a personal note, it was also a good year for me as I came here to play week in, week out and have managed to do that. Picking up the Young Player of the Year award was a pleasant surprise as I wasn’t really expecting it. It was also great to finish as the runner-up in the Players’ Player as it’s your colleagues who vote for that. I’m not getting carried away though and know that I still have plenty to work on in my game.â€
Equally pleased to see Walker remain at Hull KR is coach Craig Sandercock, who looks forward to having the talented youngster at the club for the next four years.
“Adam has really improved this year and his game has gone from strength to strength,†he said.
“He trains hard, listens, is willing to learn and has a great attitude. Adam will only get better in the years to come and it is exciting to know that he has committed to Hull KR for the next four seasons at least.â€
