Re-signing young, talented players is the norm for any club and for the Newcastle Knights, they have secured the services of 4 of their brightest prospects, re-signing Zane Tetevano (2015), Pat Mata’utia (2015), Chanel Mata’utia (2014) & Sione Mata’utia (2015).
Tetevano, who stepped up late in 2013 for the Knights when Wille Mason was injured and Kade Snowden suspended, was a crucial player for the Knights during that time and has been rewarded by the club.
“Zane has performed well this season and we are pleased to reward him with a new contract,†CEO Matt Gidley said
“He is a talented young forward and we look forward to his continued development.â€
As for the Mata’utia brothers, Gidley is excited to see the club able to retain the young trio, all of whom will be stars.
“We are obviously delighted to retain the three brothers here at the Knights,†CEO Matt Gidley said.
“Chanel performed strongly in NSW Cup this season and should press for NRL selection if that form continues.
“Following a mixed season with injuries for Pat, his potential has been rewarded with a two-year contract, which will be his debut into senior football.
“Sione has been a wonderful junior player at the Club, culminating in his selection in the NSW Under 18s and the Australian Schoolboys this year. He finished the season playing in our Under 20s and was a strong contributor.â€
