Reports suggested it was the case and the deal has finally been agreed upon and finalised, with former St George Illawarra utility Chase Stanley joining the Canterbury Bulldogs on a 2-year deal.
The deal, which will run until the end of the 2015 season, will see Stanley link up with a former team-mate of his, as well as rejoining the club in which the area is well known to him.
With a new team, a new atmosphere and a new challenge ahead for Stanley, it is one that he looks forward to undertaking.
“Yeah, looking forward to all of the challenges ahead,” said Stanley.
“Heard a lot of good things about the club and I’m really looking forward to it.”
A player that Stanley knows well is Bulldogs five-eighth Josh Reynolds, having played alongside him at the junior level.
“Back in those days, we used to call him Barbie because he used to love doing his hair and that,” said Stanley.
“But yeah, it’s going to be great playing alongside Josh again.
“He’s a great bloke and he’s obviously doing well for both himself and the Bulldogs.”
Chasing a first-grade spot – and a consistent one at that – Stanley is keen to knuckle down and potentially cement a spot in the Dogs side.
“That’s where it all starts. In the pre-season,” said Stanley.
“I’m just going to put my best foot forward and keep my head up to Des and learn a lot of things.”
