Pat O'Hanlon

Where the opportunity lies, is where a player will sign and for Pat O’Hanlon, that is the case, as he signs a 2-year deal with the Canterbury Bulldogs.

The move may anger some Parramatta Eels fans, with O’Hanlon playing in 20 games for the Eels over several seasons, before deciding that a move to the Bulldogs was the right move for his career.

With a new challenge ahead, it is one that O’Hanlon is looking forward to.

“Yeah, mate, I’m really excited about it,” said O’Hanlon.

“I just got in here today, got all our gear and stuff – bucketloads of it – but yeah, just looking forward to the pre-season.”

With a chance to play first-grade, O’Hanlon knows that the task to do so will not be easy but he is aware that hard work and a good pre-season will give him a great chance.

“Yeah, I’ve got a little bit of experience there and I’m excited to come here and play,” said O’Hanlon.

“I know there’s a really good forward pack here and I’m looking forward to learning off those blokes over the next few months.”

With a new pre-season at a new club awaiting him, O’Hanlon is aware of what lies ahead for him.

“Yeah, all pre-seasons are tough but it’s a fresh start,” said O’Hanlon.

“I’m happy to just soak up everything that comes my way.”

Keen to get stuck in and play, there were certain elements that drew O’Hanlon to the Dogs.

“I think obviously the success the club’s had,” said O’Hanlon.

“What they’re building towards for the future and I thought it’d be good to become a part of that.”
