When it comes to player signings, it is not always about buying the big player or the top player but also about improving depth and keeping an eye on emerging players and for the North Queensland Cowboys, they have continued that trend.
This time, John Asiata is the one to join the club on a 2-year deal, with the lock forward – named in the NYC Team of the Year – previously playing at the Sydney Roosters.
There is some familiarity for Asiata at the Cowboys, with new first-grade coach Paul Green someone the new Cowboy knows well, having been coached by him at U20’s level at the Roosters last year.
Asiata has been around the NYC system for a while and made his debut early in 2012, with the Wentworthville junior putting on stellar displays across the 2013 NYC season.
He is an astute buy for the Cowboys as they further strengthen their stocks.
