Joe Picker

He had apparently retired and opted to work on the family farm but after being approached by the South Sydney Rabbitohs, former Canberra Raiders forward Joe Picker will join the Bunnies on a 1-year deal.

Picker, who is still only 25, has played in 110 first-grade games since making his debut in 2007.

He was a representative junior in the Kangaroos U19’s squad and played in the Prime Minister’s XIII back in 2008.

Offering versatility as a front-rower or back-rower, Souths coach Michael Maguire is excited to have Picker on board at the club and at the chance to work with him once again.

“I was lucky enough to coach Joe as a Junior at the Raiders and I’ve seen first-hand the dedication he has towards his football,” Maguire said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him bring that competitive edge and the experience he’s gained in his 110 First Grade Games.

“He’s a great person and I’m looking forward to him helping us grow the culture here at Souths.”
