Andrew Fifita

There were mass amounts of speculation surrounding his future and it is now settled, with Andrew Fifita to leave the Cronulla Sharks and sign with the Canterbury Bulldogs from the 2015 season.

The deal will see Fifita remain with the Dogs until the end of the 2018 season but despite confirming the deal, he is committed to 2014 with the Sharks and wants to do his best for them.

“It’s a decision that I didn’t take lightly and something that I talked over a lot with my family and those close to me,” Fifita said.

“The Bulldogs have a quality playing roster and it’ll be exciting times when I arrive at the club in preparation for season 2015 and beyond.

“I am fully committed to the Sharks for the remainder of 2014 and I’ll be eagerly awaiting my arrival at the Bulldogs next season.”

Someone who is pleased to see a player of Fifita’s caliber at the Dogs is CEO Raelene Castle.

“Andrew is a strong acquisition to the club,” Castle said.

“He has burst on to the scene over the last couple of years and we know he will continue to make a significant impact for the Bulldogs.”

For Dogs coach Des Hasler, he too is looking forward to working with Fifita.

“Andrew has worked hard on his game and will be a welcomed addition to the team.”
