Talented Wigan half signs new long-term deal with the club

Teams often know when they have a special talent on their hands and for the Wigan Warriors, they were not about to beat around the bush, re-signing talented half George Williams on a new 4-year deal.

Regarded as one of the best young halves at the club and in the Super League, Williams joined the club’s scholarship system four years ago and has since been thrust into the first-grade setup, with the coach Shaun Wane thrilled that the club held onto him.

“I am really pleased that George has decided to sign a long term deal with his hometown club,” said Wane.

“He is a very talented young player who shows great desire to be the best. Make no mistake, we are the envy of click here many Super League clubs in getting George’s signature.

He fits perfectly into the Wigan culture with his behaviour on and off the field and I look forward to in sharing much success with George over the years to come”.

For the man himself, he could not dream of playing for another club and knows that hard work and dedication are the key to playing more games in first-grade moving forward.

“I am delighted to commit my future to Wigan. I thoroughly enjoy the environment here and intend to repay the Coaches trust in me by working hard, continuing to improve and play my role in helping this team to achieve great things,” said Williams.

“It is a really exciting time for the Club; we have great facilities, great fans, a great coaching team and a great group of players who want to create a new period of success for this great Club”.

For Wigan, who are all about promoting young talent, they know the re-signing of Williams is just one of many talented juniors and youngsters at the club – the core of which are starring for their side.

“With some players you know within minutes of seeing them that they have the necessary qualities to succeed,” said General Manager of Rugby, Kris Radlinski.

“George has maturity and game sense beyond his years. He is an important part of the Club’s future and we can now begin to recruit around George knowing that he will be with us for a long time. We are all thrilled as he is so well liked. This is a massive coup for the Club.”
