Matt Lodge

Wests Tigers have always been about junior retention and recruitment and they have added another talented representative forward to their roster, signing former Storm prop, Matt Lodge.

Lodge, who has all the talent in the world, can also be a loose cannon in many ways, as documented in the media in recent times.

Joining the club for the remainder of the season, the St Pats Junior enjoyed a stint at Penrith before his move to the Storm.

To illustrate just how good he is, Lodge was named in the 2013 NYC Team of the Year and has played for NSW at the U20’s level, the U18’s level and the U16’s level.

As Lodge continues his development, the club themselves are excited to have the junior rep prop on board.

“We’re really pleased to have Matthew join us this year,” said Potter.

“He’s been developing really well as a player over the last few years and will be a good addition to our Club.

“We’ve got some great front row forwards at the Club such as Aaron Woods, Martin Taupau and Keith Galloway, as well as some promising players coming through in Dallas Graham, and having Matthew join us will only strengthen that,” he said. “He’s got plenty of potential as a footballer and we’re excited to work with him.”

For the man himself, he is looking forward to the new opportunity and playing with some of his Australian schoolboy mates.

“I’m looking forward to playing with Wests Tigers and being at the same Club as my Australian Schoolboy team mates Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses,” said Lodge.

“Moving to Wests Tigers also gives me the opportunity to move back home with my parents and spend more time with my family.”
