A French-based side is going to have French players and that is why the Catalan Dragons have moved quickly to re-sign French international, Eloi Pelissier.
The talented hooker was linked with a move to England but at just 22, the club knew retaining him was the key given his vast amounts of talent.
The new contract will see Pelissier remain at the Stade Gilbert Brutus until the end of 2016 and he could not be happier.
“I love the club, it’s my hometown club, and I’m very happy and proud to stay here for the next two seasons,” Pelissier said.
“I’ve had talks with Laurent Frayssinous and Bernard Guasch and it was important for me to feel their full support and confidence.â€
In the absence of Ian Henderson, Catalans coach Laurent Frayssinous has relied on Pelissier more often this season and has been impressed with how well he has taken the opportunity.
“He had a great opportunity this season and he showed he could be one of the best hooker in the Super League,” he said.
“He is a very talented young player who shows great desire to be the best but he needs to keep working hard.”
