He may not be a household name but he is a player that gives it his all when given an opportunity and for Jesse Sene-Lefao, his good form has seen him sign a new deal with the Manly Sea Eagles.
Enjoying a recent stint in first-grade due to injuries, the new 2-year deal will keep the Samoan international at the club until the end of 2016.
With 14 NRL games to his name so far and a likely 15th in tonight’s blockbuster v the Sydney Roosters, Sene-Lefao is pleased to have extended his stay with the club.
I’m really excited to be staying with the Sea Eagles for the next two years,†Sene-Lefao said.
“Manly showed a lot of faith by brining me over here last year. They have given me the opportunity to test myself at the highest level and I’m grateful for that.â€
“Now that I have sorted my future, I just want to finish this year strong, get better and learn even more from all the boys.â€
Having kept tabs on Sene-Lefao’s process over the last year or so, Manly coach Geoff Toovey decided to grant him an opportunity in first-grade and is pleased to see the back-rower re-sign.
“I’m really happy that Jesse has committed to the Sea Eagles,†Toovey said.
“He brings a real energy and enthusiasm to the team every time he plays and has shown this year that he has the skills, strength and power to succeed at the top level.â€
“It’s always positive news for everyone when a player who has been given the opportunity by the Club at NRL level wants to stay.â€
“Jesse and all our young forwards have really impressed this year and we’re expecting more of the same from all of them with the business end of the season fast approaching.â€
Also weighing in on the re-signing Manly’s General Manager David Perry, who lauded the impact that Sene-Lefao provides from the bench.
“Jesse has been in fantastic form this season. His impact off the bench has undoubtedly helped the team to where we sit on the NRL ladder and his re-signing is just rewards,” said Perry.
“To retain him despite interest from other clubs is a real achievement and something the Club should be proud of.â€
