The World Cup was a chance for the unheralded players to show their skills and impress rugby league clubs
around the world and many took that chance with open arms.
One such player that did so was USA Tomahawks prop Mark Offerdahl and as a result – via a couple of other teams – he has been signed by English Super League side the Bradford Bulls for one season.
The former Manly prop began the season with Kingstone Press Championship side, the North Wales Crusaders and this new opportunity is a sign that people took notice of his form.
Offerdahl, who also enjoyed a stint with French side AS Carcassonne, is the fifth addition to the Bradford Bulls roster for 2015 and coach James Lowes is excited.
“Mark will add a lot of power, size and energy to our front line next year,†said the Bulls chief.
“He is a player who has really impressed me and I am pleased with the homework we have done on him.
“Mark is keen to come over and have a crack at Super League with us. But, in order to do that, he knows he will have to play his part in helping us earn promotion in 2015.”
Keeping tabs on him at the World Cup, Lowes’ hopes that their new prop can make the most of the chance and extend his stay.
“He is an international forward, who I felt did a great job for the USA in the World Cup, and this a big chance for him to prove himself,” said Lowes.
“Hopefully, he will do well here and the one-year deal will become much longer.
“I believe Mark’s addition will further enhance the good blend of forwards we are putting together.â€
