After the earlier signing of Mark Minichiello from the Gold Coast Titans, Hull Official have signed another Titans player, with utility back Steve Michaels to join the club for next season.
Michaels, who has played with both the Titans and the Brisbane Broncos, has in excess of 100 first-grade games to his name.
At just 27, the time is right in Michaels’ eyes to make the move to England and he looks forward to getting amongst it and playing with passionate fans.
“I’m rapped to come over to Hull. I’m excited about the move. I’ve heard good things about the fanatical fans and the proud history of the club. It’s a big challenge for me,” said Michaels.
“I’ve got an understanding of the club. I spoke to Lee and he informed me of the young players coming through whilst there is a bit of experience in there too.
So it is exciting to be joining the club and the first thing I want to do is earn a spot and have some input in the team. We want some success in 2015.”
Additionally, Michaels always had ambitions to head over to the Super League.
I’ve always dreamed of coming over to the UK. It’s the right time now for me, but I’ve still got plenty of footy left in me,” said Michaels.
“I’m still only 27 and I’m looking to bring some of my best footy to the UK.”
Knowing how versatile he can be, Hull FC coach Lee Radford is pleased to have the utility back at the club.
“We are really pleased to get Steve’s signature, he will undoubtedly add some speed and competition in to our back line for 2015,” said Radford.
“He’s both comfortable playing at centre and on the wing so we’re hoping the competition for places will bring the best out of our squad and will hopefully ensure everyone is working to their maximum potential.
In the off season no places are guaranteed any more, I think that hasn’t been the case over the last couple of years.â€
