Frank-Paul Nuuausala

There have long been rumours that he might face a move away from the club and they have now eventuated, with Sydney Roosters utility forward Frank-Paul Nuuausala granted a release from the final year of his contract.

The release from his Roosters contract will see the international head to the nation’s capital and play for the Canberra Raiders.

Since making his debut for the club in 2007, Nuuausala has featured in most seasons since then. Club COO Brian Canavan said that whilst the decision was not an easy one to release him, they know it is ultimately about what is best for Nuuausala.

“Frank-Paul has been a wonderful contributor to our Club since making his NRL debut in 2007, and this hasn’t been an easy decision for us to come to,” said Canavan.

“However, we do so with the view that it is in Frank-Paul’s best interests to secure his long-term future.

“A passionate clubman, popular among his teammates and all staff, the Roosters are certainly far better for the time Frank has spent at the Club and I know I speak on behalf of everyone associated with the Roosters in wishing him all the very best.”

Also quick to thank Nuuasala for his time at the club was coach Trent Robinson.

“It can never be underestimated the important contribution Frank has made to the Roosters in his time here,” said Robinson.

“The type of player who prefers to let his actions do the talking on the footy field, it’s been an honour to watch Frank develop as a leader among our forwards over the past few years.

Robinson wished Nuuausala every success at the Raiders and knows what he will be missed.

“Frankie’s a good man who we will miss greatly at the Roosters, and he’ll always have many friends here. The Raiders are lucky to have him and we wish Frank every success at his new club,” said Robinson.

With the signing now confirmed by the Raiders, the three-year deal will commence from 2015.

With 15 Tests to his name for New Zealand, Nuuausala is a valuable addition for the Raiders side and the club looks forward to having his experience on board.

“Frank Paul is a wonderful player and we’re looking forward to him joining us and becoming part of the Raiders family,” Stuart said.
